Morning Walk to Work

When I was temping at the Big Apple Circus, I walked to work, even though by NYC standards it was quite a long way. That's OK! I like to walk to work whenever possible for a variety of reasons:

- If I know how long the walk takes and I leave my apartment at the correct time, I never have the stress of traffic making me late;

- Walking enables me to avoid mass transit, which isn't a very fun experience;

- Walking is "extra" exercise; and last but not least,

- If one looks, one can find many interesting sites along the way.

While en route to work one morning, I was struck with the idea to put together a picture tour of my walk to work. So alas, my idea has come to be...

My Route

I leave my apartment, and head south on First Avenue (one of the least busy avenues in the morning hours). I walk down a handful of blocks, and at 59th street, looking east I see...

the 59th Street Bridge.
